POETRY ARTICLES & ESSAYS PERSIAN

Click here for the link to read the full article on Majalla. The opening night was  too busy for its own good, and some pieces were much weaker than the rest, but all together, as I mention in the review, it’s a “timely effort” and worth a visit.

While I was doing interviews that night,  I spotted Maryam Salour. I knew she had a piece in the exhibition but I didn’t know she’d be there. Seeing a familiar face like that in a completely unfamiliar crowd and city, was such a bliss. I spent much of my childhood at Maryam “joon’s” beautiful house, with her daughter, my beloved Narguess. I also went to her pottery classes. (I made an ashtray for my brother once, which he still has. I was 10, he was sixteen — go figure). So I guess this is my journalistic disclaimer (or a gentle memory) as far as “personal ties to the story.”

Anyway, below is a photo of the moment we met after four years.

And this is me interviewing Azadeh Ghotbi.
