POETRY ARTICLES & ESSAYS PERSIAN

I don’t know him by a name
Names are incapable of exhibiting all I see
Containing all that he is

Or a language, even
What is language, sometimes, but a barrier
A fickle attempt at encapsulating the range of colours
You feel at once
When you desire

And yet I write, to liquidate the walls
Between the parts of my brain
And yours that
struggle to coalesce
Meanings,
So many meanings
Floating like deconstructed dream catchers

I don’t know him by a color
A size
A label: husband, fiance, man, friend, lover, soulmate, soul, mate
I only know the infinite possibilities
Of our bodies expanding, shrinking
Fitting

I will not force you into words
Or into parameters of a definition
We will merge
Like the threads on dreamcatchers
And hang above.
