POETRY ARTICLES & ESSAYS PERSIAN

Dim lights are bad for you
They cover your wrinkles
And close your eyes
They make your ears look smaller
And your hands, feel lost

Dim lights are bad for you, Dimitry
Dim lights make you die
They bring you into a country
And leave you for the flies

Dim lights are bad for you Dimitry,
You cheat, you hide, you lie
Dim lights, they kill
They kill this trust and everyone pries

Do touch me still, in the dim light
Dimitry
Caress my fingertips and attack my limbs
Devour my lightless skin
But we both know the heavy price
Don’t we, Dimitry?

Dim lights are bad for you
They haunt you long after I’m gone
They trick you as your body warms up
Expands
You make a nest and your wings rest
But then the light hits hard and your wings shrivel

Dim lights, I tell you, Dimitry
Leave you for another night.
